Cultural Policy

Arts Policy, strategic development and projects

Museum columns

The City of Edinburgh Council is committed to developing culture in the city for current and future generations. This work can take the form of policy papers, public consultations, joint working with the cultural sector and strategic projects.

Access to Sport and Culture Edinburgh (ASC Edinburgh) is an initiative to improve access to arts, sport and physical activity in the City by signing up to the Pledge. Organisations that can sign-up to the Pledge can include public, voluntary and commercial, as well as partnerships, agencies, companies, clubs and groups. These organisations already work to provide high quality activities. By signing the Pledge, they recognise that they can work together to increase participation.

Established in 2002, the Edinburgh Cultural Partnership is a voice for the arts in the city.  It also plays an important role in Edinburgh 's community planning network, working with the Edinburgh Partnership, the City's Sport Partnership and other organisations.

Our current cultural policy papers include:

  • Cultural Policy
  • City Cultural Venues Study
  • Dance Strategy
  • Gaelic Arts Report
  • Moving Image Strategy
  • Music Strategy
  • Theatre Strategy
  • Thundering Hooves Report

If you would like to receive a copy of any of these papers, please contact the Arts Development Team.
