Join online
Complete our online form to apply for library membership and we'll send your library card to you by post.
Please note due to web site maintenance you will be unable to submit the online form on Monday 4th March 2013.
Join in person
You can also join at any of our libraries. If you would like to use a computer or borrow talking books, cds or dvds you will need to show one form of proof of identity.
Please note for data protection reasons your membership will expire after 18 months, but can be renewed by confirming your details to a member of staff.
What can I borrow?
Up to 12 items from any of the city's libraries. The normal loan period is 3 weeks but you can renew items (in person, by phone, or online) provided that no other user has reserved them. You can borrow from, and return books to, any library.
What else can I do with my library card?
Your library card is not just for borrowing - did you know you can use your library card number to log on, free, to dozens of web sites you'd have to pay to use otherwise? These include newspaper archives, language learning software and business information. You can view a complete list of these sites on the Your Library web site.
