If you are beyond beginner level or have completed the LearnIT Computers for Beginners course sign up for LearnIT Lab.
This comprises five two-hour sessions and is based on the idea of people discussing what they might like to learn and - with the help of our Learner “Menu” - drawing up a personal plan.
This can cover a very wide range of computing issues: from how to organise your files and folders to sending an e-mail attachment, setting up Skype, help with Microsoft Office applications or guidance on doing things on the internet.
The groups are run by a member of Library staff supported by a group of volunteers who will take you through whatever you have chosen to learn very often on a 1:1 basis.
Whilst we encourage people to bring their own laptops to these groups (in order that they are learning on their own equipment and using the operating system and software they have installed) we can provide help for those who wish to use the libraries own desktops. Written material on a variety of computing subjects is also provided.
For further information or to book a LearnIT Lab place please contact Kenneth.Sharkey@edinburgh.gov.uk or phone 0131 242 8101.
