Courses run for 6 weeks (each session last about two hours) at selected libraries. Handouts are provided to take away.
Week 1: Getting started
The basics of a computer system; understanding the desktop, programmes and icons; using the mouse.
Week 2:Word and the keyboard
An introduction to using the keyboard, typing a letter and simple tools of Word; also covers some of the basics of saving and organising your work.
Week 3: The Internet
An introduction to 'the Web'; how websites work and how to search and use 'the net' effectively.
Week 4: E-mail
First of two sessions to get you up and running with e-mail; how to get an address and basics of sending and receiving messages.
Week 5: E-mail / internet
A second session with more detail on using your e-mail and a look at getting the most from the internet - registering with websites and shopping online.
Week 6: Review and re-cap
An 'open' session for you to raise any questions and/or difficulties you have had with subjects covered during the course.
