What is Happening

The Harvester's Way site is being redeveloped and will include a Healthy Living Centre on the western part of the site.  The remainder of the site will be developed as affordable housing and plans for this are under development.

The Wester Hailes Healthy Living Centre is a joint project between the Council and NHS Lothian.

The development will provide new accommodation for the Wester Hailes Medical Practice and a wide range of community health services including physiotherapy, dentistry, podiatry, speech and language therapy, midwifery, paediatrics, mental health and learning disabilities.

There will be Council services located in the building, in particular the Health and Social Care, Children and Families and Criminal Justice social work practice teams.

Community Consultation

Consultation took place with NHS Lothian, the Council and the local community which helped develop the plans for the Healthy Living Centre.

Project Timescales

Work started on the Healthy Living Centre on 9 January 2012, with a view to opening in the Autumn of 2013.
