Strategic parking review

We are proposing measures to address parking problems in your area.

As part of this process, we want to know about your experiences of parking near your home, as well as your views on the proposals. View plans and tell us what you think.

Background

We have received requests from communities across the city asking us to tackle parking problems. Residents are concerned that the lack of parking controls is making it difficult to park near to their own homes.

We assessed parking pressures across the city, including all satellite towns and villages. The review took a strategic, proactive approach to addressing increasing parking pressures across the city.

The review split the city into smaller areas. Parked vehicles were surveyed in every street in Edinburgh to measure parking pressures. The results were used to assess the possible need for controls in each area.

The outcome of the review reveals where parking controls may be needed. It prioritises those areas worst impacted by parking pressures. We will take a phased approach to bring forward proposals to address parking problems in these areas. You can find more information in our latest Committee report.
