Edinburgh's Multi-agency Domestic Abuse Policy

We have created a policy to help prevent domestic abuse and to support people affected by it in Edinburgh. The policy was developed jointly with our partners in Police Scotland, NHS Lothian and the voluntary sector.

Domestic abuse is never acceptable and will not be tolerated.

We will work together to strive to end domestic abuse in our communities. Until then, we want to make sure that we

  • offer effective support to all victims, including children
  • hold abusers to account, and support them to change their attitudes and behaviours.

Now that the policy is in place, we are developing an action plan to improve support for people affected by domestic abuse in our city.

If you would like to find out more about how we tackle domestic abuse or have any ideas on how we should improve our services contact

If you or anyone you know is being harmed, you should speak up. See our Speak up Speak out campaign for details.
