Edinburgh Joint Carers Strategy

Information about the strategy

The City of Edinburgh Council and NHS Lothian value the vital role that carers have caring for people in Edinburgh. A range of good quality support needs to be on hand to carers at the right time and place.

The Council has developed the Edinburgh's Joint Carers' Strategy with local partners from Health, the third sector and carers. The plan has local priorities and outcomes for young and adult carers in the city for the next three years from 2014 to 2017.

The six priority areas within the plan for Edinburgh's carers are

  • identifying carers
  • information and advice
  • carer health and wellbeing
  • short breaks and  respite
  • young adult carers
  • personalising support for carers.
