Council support for the arts

Arts Development work with the city's cultural sector to ensure that the arts play a vital and lasting role in Edinburgh.

The Arts team develop strategic policy, award cultural grants as well as offer advice on cultural projects.

Current funding opportunities

The Edinburgh Visual Artists Award and Craft Makers Award schemes award grants to individual artists/makers living or based in Edinburgh towards costs in developing new work. Awards of between £500 and £1,500 are available.

In partnership with Creative Scotland, we are now offering emerging artists the chance to apply to the bursary programme. It is open to both Visual Artists and Craft Makers.

The bursary programme will support two successful applicants to develop and progress their creative practice over 12 months.  Successful applicants will be awarded £1,500 as a bursary.

There are two rounds of these awards for 2016/17

Project fund: New Work Performing Arts

This new fund aims to stimulate and support artistic and cultural projects that benefit Edinburgh and those who live in and visit the city. The 2017/18 New Work fund will award grants to organisations based in Edinburgh for costs involved in developing new performing arts work. Awards of up to £5,000 are available.

The deadline for this award is 

Friday 10 March 2017 at 12 noon.

Application packs are available from Monday 23 January 2016.
