Sustainable Development Policies and Plans

Sustainable Edinburgh 2020

The Carbon, Climate & Sustainability Team (CCS) is responsible for the development and updating of policies across a wide range of sustainable development topics. In addition, policies, plans, guidelines and feasibility studies have been prepared in partnership with other departments and external agencies to inform and assist colleagues with projects on the ground as well as informing policy development.

  • City of Edinburgh Council Sustainable Design Guide - produced to assist Council departments and building professionals in identifying and integrating the benefits of sustainability into design. The guide is a useful tool for those involved in the design of Edinburgh's built environment.
  • Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) - allows policy makers to identify, report and consult on the environmental effects of public sector plans, programmes and strategies.
