This year's Scottish Older People's Assembly (SOPA 2012) will take place on Friday 2 November 2012 at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC). This is an annual conference organised by older people for older people to come together to discuss issues of importance.
The theme for this year's Assembly is the older person's experience of care, highlighting challenges and good practice and compassionate care. The 2012 programme will also highlight issues around preventative care that encourages older people to remain socially connected and the contribution older people themselves make in caring for others.
SOPA 2012 will build on last year's event (SOPA 2011) with a video conference linking localities across Scotland. Older people and all other interested parties will also be able to follow the conference which will be streamed live on the day and available as a webcast following the event.
