Construction updates

Clark Contracts have been awarded the contract to carry out the building of the new café, toilets, renovation of the historic Stables Block and associated works at Saughton Park. They began their site set up in February 2018. This construction programme will run for 36 weeks, until November 2018.

P1 Solutions are the contractors who have been awarded the contract to carry out the landscape and associated works at Saughton Park.

They began their site set up in July 2017 and construction works have been ongoing since then. The construction programme will run for 60 weeks, until mid September 2018. Many areas of the park are now closed for construction. We apologise for the inconvenience caused and look forward to welcoming you back in September 2018. We will publish more information on opening dates when this become available.

Closure updates

Gorgie Road / Balgreen Road bridge entrance and the area south of the Walled Gardens is closed to allow major pathway construction and other improvement works.

Balgreen Road entrance and car park are closed to allow works in this area.

Ford’s Road entrance is open and part of the car park will open later in September 2018.

Stevenson Drive entrance is open.

Main east-west path, the Water of Leith walkway and John Muir Way are closed to allow major works to the path, including new surfacing and lighting. Diversions have been put in place for pedestrians and cyclists via the new Stevenson Drive and Balgreen Road paths which are within the park perimeter.

The Walled Garden and Winter Garden are closed for construction works and will open in early December 2018. The new playground will open later in September 2018.

The skatepark remains open throughout construction
