Construction updates

Clark Contracts have been awarded the contract to carry out the building of the new café, toilets, renovation of the historic Stables Block and associated works at Saughton Park. They began their site set up in February 2018. This construction programme will run for 36 weeks, until November 2018.

P1 Solutions are the contractors who have been awarded the contract to carry out the landscape and associated works at Saughton Park.

They began their site set up in July 2017 and construction works have been ongoing since then. The construction programme will run for 60 weeks, until mid September 2018. Many areas of the park are now closed for construction. We apologise for the inconvenience caused and look forward to welcoming you back in September 2018. We will publish more information on opening dates when this become available.

Closure updates

Most of the park except all of the Walled Garden is now open.

Gorgie Road / Balgreen Road bridge entrance and the new path south of the Walled Gardens is open.

Balgreen Road entrance is open and the car park is partially open with limited spaces available until late November 2018.

Ford's Road entrance is open and part of the car park is open and will fully open in December when our contractors complete the ongoing works.

The Stevenson Drive entrance is open.

All through routes in the park are open including the main east-west path, the Water of Leith walkway and John Muir Way. The street lighting is currently undergoing final checks and commissioning.

The Play Park, Outdoor Gym and Roller Hockey and Basketball court are all open. New benches and picnic tables will be installed by Friday 19 October 2018. We are still waiting on our new bins, which have been delayed and should be in place by 1 November, so in the meantime please take anything that you bring with you home again.

Parking is limited, especially at the Balgreen Road car park, so try the West car park instead, access via Ford's Road.

Please park considerately and only in the bays provided.

Dogs are not permitted in the children's play park or roller hockey / basketball court.

There are no toilet facilities in the park yet as these are still under construction and they, along with the Walled Garden, Winter Garden, Bandstand, Courtyard and other facilities will be open at the beginning of December. It is hoped that the new café will be up and running in spring 2019.
