Food safety awards

There are two main food safety awards which food businesses can apply for, Eatsafe and the healthyliving award. If you think you could apply for one of these awards, please contact us.

Eatsafe

Food businesses who received this award must have excellent food hygiene standards which are more than the legal requirements. The scheme is run throughout the whole of the UK by local authorities although the actual awards come from the Food Standards Agency. You can look out for the Eatsafe logo or certificate in a food business. Find out who holds the award on the Eatsafe website. There are about 80 award holders in Edinburgh.

healthyliving award

This is a Scottish award scheme for food businesses, and it rewards businesses who make it easier for their customers to eat healthily. It encourages the food industry to provide healthier food on the menu by reducing the amount of salt, fat, and sugar in the food they serve. They must also make more fruit and vegetables available. The award makes it easier for people eating out to know where to go for healthy food. Find advice on getting the award on the healthyliving award website.
