Community council elections

Community councils deal with local issues to improve the community.  By getting involved you can make a difference to what matters in your area.

You can apply to be part of your community council as an individual or as a local interest group such as residents’ association, student council and youth club.

There are 46 community council areas in the city and nominations are being sought for three of these – Craigmillar, Drylaw/Telford and Old Town community councils.  To find out which community council covers your area a postcode search facility is available on the Neighbourhood Partnership website

Any individual aged 16 years or older and registered on the electoral role can join.

Nomination forms will be available from Monday 9th January 2017.

Nomination forms for individuals should be returned to the returning officer as noted on the nomination form.  Nomination forms for local interest groups should be returned to the Elections Team, City Chambers, High Street, Edinburgh EH1 1YJ.

If there are more candidates than places on the community council, an election will be held in that area on Thursday 23 February 2017.
