Help with benefits and tax credits

We provide free, independent and confidential advice and representation on benefits and tax credits for people living in Edinburgh.

Our services include

  • filling in forms
  • help with rent arrears
  • representation at appeals
  • help deal with other problems with your benefits
  • help to get you all the benefits you are entitled to
  • help to appeal if you do not agree with a benefit decision.

Call us to discuss your situation and work out the best options for you.

If you

  • are affected by cancer, contact our Macmillan Welfare Rights Team on 0131 200 2360 or email us to Macmillan@edinburgh.gov.uk
  • are housebound, and we cannot help you over the telephone, we can organise a home visit or suggest an agency more suited to your locality and situation
  • have difficulty with your hearing or speech or if your first language is not English, let us know about this when you contact us, to give you the advice you need in a way that is suitable to your needs.

  • Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 8.30am to 5pm
  • Tuesday 10am to 5pm
  • Friday 8.30am to 3.40pm                                                                                          

Advice Shop opening hours

  • Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 8.30am to 4.30pm
  • Tuesday 10am to 4.30pm
  • Friday 8.30am to 3.40pm

Drop in times

  • Monday, Thursday and Friday 9am
  • Tuesday 1.30pm

The sessions are first come first served, so some days not everyone who comes can be seen

Wednesday PM every fortnight. You must be a patient of the surgery.
