Request a review

If you disagree with our decision on your Scottish Welfare Fund application, we can explain the decision to you on the phone.

To ask for a review, email or write to us within 20 working days of the decision.

You should include

  • your signature
  • the date and reference number from your letter 
  • the reasons you do not agree with the decision
  • details of on any changes to your circumstances since the application
  • relevant information which you did not give us when you made your application.

A different person in our team will review your application. We aim to carry out your review within two working days for crisis grants and 15 working days for community care grants.

Request a second review

If you still disagree with our decision, you can ask the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman (SPSO) to look at your case. 

Ask the SPSO for a review online  or call on 0800 014 7299.

You must do this within one month of the first review decision date.
