Care and support at home

Help with preparing and eating meals

You may be able to get help with preparing or eating meals if you are assessed as needing personal care.

A care worker can prepare up to three meals or snacks a day. One of these will be a main hot meal.

Help with meals at home is part of free personal care if you are aged 65 or over.  How much you pay if you're under 65 is based on a financial assessment.

The cost of help with meals

If we arrange frozen meals for you, each meal costs £2.88 and includes a main course and dessert.

If you don't get support from us, you can choose and buy frozen meals from a private company which offers this service.

If you go to a Council day care centre, meals are provided there.  A day centre place costs £6.50 per day.
