Shared Lives

Living with a Shared Lives carer

Shared Lives is when you live with paid carers in their home. Shared Lives is for people over 16 who have a learning disability. You can stay with a carer for a weekend or a few days holiday or for a longer time.

You will be able to

  • develop new skills and meet new people
  • get support to become more independent.

We will

  • plan for your needs
  • find the best carer for you
  • support you and your carer.

You can read about  Shared Lives carers.

How to get a place

To get a place, talk to your social worker. We will ask them questions about you. We will find out if living with a Shared Lives carer is right for you.

If you don’t have a social worker, then you or a family member or a support worker can get in touch with the Shared Lives Team.
