Pay parking tickets and bus lane charge notices

You should have the following details to hand:

  • the parking ticket or bus lane charge notice number 
  • your vehicle registration
  • a valid credit or debit card. 

Online

The simplest way to pay is online. You can also view any photos for parking tickets or a video for bus lane notices. You will be able to view them before you pay. These will be available one day later.

By post

The Communication Workers Union may announce additional strike dates throughout 2023. This will affect delivery and posting of mail. Please take this into consideration when sending payments or correspondence for parking tickets and bus lane charge notices by post.  Where possible, please use an alternative method, for example payments can be made on the web or over the phone (automated phone line) and you can challenge a parking ticket or bus lane charge notice online using our online case management system and.  Further information is given on our website at Parking tickets and bus lane notices.

Please write the parking ticket or bus lane charge number on the back of your cheque or postal order. For security reasons you should not send cash.

Please note that you must leave time for your payment to reach us and that items may be lost or delayed by post. If you would like a receipt please also enclose a stamped addressed envelope.

In person

You can pay using a credit or debit card at The City of Edinburgh Council Customer Hub, 249 High Street, Edinburgh, EH1 1YJ. Please note that we no longer accept cash payments. 

Pay a parking ticket or charge notice passed for collection

Payment can no longer be accepted by us if your parking ticket or charge notice has been passed to Sheriff Officers for collection. You must contact the relevant Sheriff Officers for payment options.

Lost ticket

If you have lost your parking ticket or bus lane charge number you can request this from us. Please note it will take us two working days to provide the lost ticket number.

From 5 June 2023, parking tickets issued in Edinburgh will increase to £100, reduced to £50 if paid within the first 14 days.
