Visitors' parking permits
Apply for a visitor parking permit
You can buy visitors' parking permits, if you live in zones N1 to N5 and S1 to S4 or in Priority Parking Areas (PPA) B1 to B8. See our parking permits map to check which zone you're in.
You can buy them in person at Drum Brae Hub or by completing a visitors' permit application form.
Permits can be purchased in books of 10 and cost £6 per book. One permit lasts for 90 minutes of parking in permit holders' or shared use parking places or for the full controlled period in a PPA place. Permits can't be used in mews areas.
If you live in the extended areas you can purchase 150 permits per year. Some blue badge holders may buy up to 300 permits per year at a reduced rate. If you live in a PPA you can buy 30 permits per year equal to 30 days of parking.
Cheques should be made payable to The City of Edinburgh Council.
How to use
To use visitors' parking permits scratch out the
- hours and minutes to the next nearest five minutes
- day, date, month and year.
You must scratch out six boxes on each permit.
If you want to stay longer than 90 minutes in N1 to N5 and S1 to S4 complete the same six boxes on any extra permits used. So, if you arrive at 9am and want to stay for three hours, scratch out 9am on two permits.
You only need one permit per day in PPA as the controls only last 90 minutes.
The details on each permit must be clearly visible from outside the vehicle or you may receive a parking ticket.
Please only order the number of books that you need. We can only exchange full books of unused out of date permits. We are unable to exchange single permits.
Please only order the number of books that you need. We will refund full books of unused out of date permits for customers who have moved out of the zones for which visitor permits are available.
