Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry

About the Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry

The Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry was set up on 1 October 2015 to consider the abuse of children in care from living memory to 2014.

The Inquiry aims to raise public awareness around the abuse of children in care, and will also provide an opportunity to acknowledge publicly the suffering of children in care.

The Inquiry will report to Scottish Government Ministers within four years with recommendations to improve future law, policies, and practices in Scotland.

Further information about the work of the Inquiry can be found on the Child Abuse Inquiry website.
