Support for isolated older people

Community Connecting

Community Connecting is a support service for older people. This service is provided by Places for People Scotland Care & Support who will help you join in local opportunities and activities. Volunteers will help you to identify things you would like to do and support you to start doing them.

If you, or someone you know, could benefit from a Community Connecting service, please contact Social Care Direct.

The activities that people choose are wide ranging such as

  • going to a local coffee shop
  • playing pool
  • visiting art galleries.

We can help you start to use public transport again.

Often people use this service because they have become isolated or not been able to do things they used to enjoy. You might have lost confidence after a fall, illness or bereavement.

We can support you for around 4 months by which time we hope that you will feel less isolated and more active.

Become a volunteer

The service provides opportunities for volunteers from a range of ages and backgrounds, to give something back or broaden their experience. Volunteering can have a positive impact on your own health and wellbeing.
