Braidburn School arrangements

Latest update 24 May 2016

Braidburn Primary will fully reopen as planned on Tuesday 24 May 2016.

The following letters confirm that Braidburn School is ready to re-open on Tuesday 24 May:

Letter from Edinburgh Schools Partnership to the City of Edinburgh Council

supported by letters from

  • Goodson Associates to Edinburgh Schools Partnership
  • Galliford Try to Edinburgh Schools Partnership
  • Amey to Edinburgh Schools Partnership.

Letter from the Scott Bennett Associates, independent structural engineers appointed by the Council.

The Scott Bennett letter captures the remit of the Structural Engineer employed direct by the Council to provide a level of scrutiny in relation to the remediation works. The remit ensured that the approach to investigating the issues, implementing structural solutions and record-keeping around the remedial works were to the required standard. We can confirm that Scott Bennett also carried out an inspection on completion.

The Scott Bennett scrutiny of the reports included a review of methods to control the quality of work on-site, inspection of records, photographs, quality reports and on-site testing to be satisfied that the works have been carried to an acceptable level of quality.

In addition the Council also employed an independent Clerk of Works who closely monitored the latter stages of the works with daily inspections. Any quality issues were shared with the contractor on-site and addressed and weekly reports were passed to Scott Bennett. There were no significant quality issues identified.
