Expanding funded early learning and childcare

1,140 hours by August 2020 - One Year to Go

The Scottish Government has asked all councils to increase funded early learning and childcare by August 2020.

We will increase early learning and childcare hours for every 3 and 4-year old and eligible 2-year old from 600 hrs to 1,140 hours. Children will receive funding from the term after their 3rd birthday.

You may be able to benefit from the increased hours with

  • longer opening hours
  • a move from term-time to year round opening
  • a blended model of care offering a mix of nursery class and forest kindergarten or a childminder
  • funded hours at our partner provider nurseries

We will deliver increased hours in phases across the city by August 2020. We have already begun to offer these in some areas. Please contact your local nursery for more information.
