Submitting your application
You can apply for planning permission online using the Scottish Government e-Planning service. To ensure you complete the forms correctly, and provide the correct fee, please download and read our planning application guidelines and fees list below.
Planning fees changed on 1 June 2017.
- The fee for householder development and smaller changes such as new shop fronts is £202.
- Changes of use and new houses is £401.
- The maximum fee for major applications is £125,000 for most types of development.
Please note we no longer accept cheques for planning applications or building warrants. Payment can be made when applying online or telephone payments (credit or debit card) can be made by phoning 0131 529 3550. The payments line is open from 9am to 5pm Monday to Thursday and 9am to 3.30pm Friday.

The customer should provide a screenshot of their payment confirmation to email@example.com Failure to do so means we cannot match up the payment to the application.
Your application will normally be acknowledged within 5 working days. The letter will give you an expected date of when a decision will be made or let you know that further information is needed.
If we feel your application may be more likely to be approved with amendments, we will write to you asking you to change it.
