Work that may not require planning permission
If you are only making small alterations you may not require permission. Work that may not require permission is known as permitted development. The Scottish Government provide guidance on permitted development.
You may be able to change the use of your property without the need for planning permission. The guide below gives advice on when planning permission is required.
If you’re unsure whether you need permission you can apply online for a Certificate of Lawfulness. This will give you a decision on whether you require planning permission for a proposed use or building works.
You may still require to apply for a Building Warrant even if planning permission is not required.
