How we're doing

Park Quality Assessments

An internal assessment of the quality of our parks, using the Green Flag criteria, is undertaken annually. These assessments are carried out by teams of assessors, composed of council staff, Friends of Parks volunteers and external partners. The process is over seen by the Green Flag Forum.

Further information on the Park Quality Assessments methodology and the Park Quality scores 2012/13.

Landscape Quality Standards

A set of measurable landscape quality standards have been developed for each of the greenspace feature types maintained by the Council (e.g shrub beds, standard amenity grass, rose beds etc).  Each month a random sample of these features are assessed across the city by a trained assessor to see whether they pass the landscape quality standard set for them. The results allow us to identify how well our teams are performing and are used to develop improvement actions.
