Eco-Schools is an international initiative, run in Scotland by Eco-Schools Scotland. It recognises the hard work schools are doing to keep improving their environment and in making the wider community aware of environmental issues.
50 countries worldwide take part in the programme and over 3500 schools are registered as Eco-Schools throughout Scotland.
To become an Eco-School, schools work through a structure of seven elements and a choice of ten topics. Schools can then apply for an Eco-Schools award. There are three levels of award- bronze, silver and green flag.
