  2. How to get involved

Do you live, work or use a local service in these areas?

If so, we want to hear from you…

Artist impression of south east Edinburgh primary schoolDespite the financial challenges facing the Council, we are committed to prioritising spending on the services that matter most to you.

Our 21st Century Homes project provided hundreds of high-quality new homes for Gracemount residents and, in the coming years, we’ll be investing millions more in schools and other facilities in your local area.

We’re building a new state-of-the-art special school to replace St Crispin’s and a replacement for St Catherine’s RC Primary School that will together accommodate up to 500 children and will include a nursery to help towards our ambitious free childcare targets. Alongside this, however, we must make more efficient use of our buildings, both existing ones and the new ones we are planning.

We are spending the next few months gathering information on how services in the area are delivered and how existing buildings are used.

We'll also gather the views from people living, working and using services in the area:

can we make our buildings work harder for you?

what works well now and what could change?

are there some buildings that we no longer need?

As part of this, we’re running a series of events – exhibitions, drop-ins, and workshops – where you can learn more, meet the team and, most importantly, to have your say. Having gathered your feedback and ideas, we’ll then develop proposals for further discussion with people and groups in Gracemount, Burdiehouse and Southhouse.

We want to find a solution that best meets the local community’s needs – both now and in the future – so please take this opportunity to participate and give us your views.
