Summer reading challenge for children

Children aged 5 to 12 are invited to take up the challenge of reading six books during the summer holidays. This year's theme is Animal Agents.

Pop into your local library to register and take part.

The summer reading challenge starts on the 23 June and runs until 27 August.

You can choose any book for the challenge including ebooks and audiobooks from Overdrive. Collect stickers as you read and help crime-busting creatures solve the clues to reveal the mystery.

When you have successfully completed the reading challenge you will receive a certificate and a gold medal. There are some excellent prizes too including

  • Dynamic Earth family passes
  • astronomy evenings at the Royal Observatory
  • Edinburgh Leisure passes.

Animal Agents is brought to you by Edinburgh Libraries, The Reading Agency and Tesco Bank Summer Reading Challenge Scotland.
