UK National Honours

Honours are given to people from all walks of life and all sections of society who have made a difference to their community. Honours Lists are published at New Year and on the occasion of The Sovereign's Birthday.

Nominations are administered by the Cabinet Office in London and the relevant form and guidance notes are available from the Honours and Appointments Secretariat or from the office of the Clerk to the Edinburgh Lieutenancy.  The Lord Provost can endorse nominations from the City of Edinburgh area and this should be requested via the office of the Clerk to the Edinburgh Lieutenancy.
