Lord Provost of the City of Edinburgh

The role of Lord Lieutenant

The Lord Provost is also the Lord Lieutenant of the City of Edinburgh.

In this role the Lord Lieutenant greets members of the Royal Family and visiting heads of state.  If the Lord Lieutenant is unable to be present he may ask a Deputy Lieutenant to represent him.
