You said, we did

How we use your feedback

Your feedback makes a difference to Council decisions. Edinburgh residents, businesses and communities have already given us valuable feedback on what's important to them through our budget consultation and ongoing involvement with local Neighbourhood Partnerships. You told us to protect

  • education
  • care for older people
  • culture
  • services for vulnerable children and adults.

These continue to be our priorities.  You can download the feedback reports from 2015/16 and 2016/17 below.

You also have told us you want to be involved in reshaping your services so in 2016/17 we asked you to give us ideas on how we can deliver some services more effectively whilst staying customer focused. You supported more shared facilities for services such as the Drumbrae Hub using more volunteers (but not to replace paid staff) and improving our online services.

The findings will be considered when the Council sets its revenue budget on 9 February 2017 and also in creating Locality Improvement Plans. Remember you can watch these meetings live on our webcast or the recording afterwards.

You can now read the full play your part report.

As a direct result of your feedback in 2015/16, councillors made changes to the 2016/17 budget. This included

  • removing the draft proposal to reduce street crossing patrols
  • keeping the night noise team
  • removing the draft proposal to reduce the size of in-house home care service
  • not proceeding with the redesign of day care services for adults with learning disabilities
  • removing the proposal for a reduction in community centre staff
  • amending the proposal to review support staff in special schools, ensuring maintenance of both staff numbers and service delivery
  • removing the £0.5 million proposal to review family and pupil support
  • maintaining the Council's current level of funding for extra community policing
  • investing £15.069 million in roads, pavements and cycle ways to continue to make it easier for people to get around the city
  • allocating 9% of both the net capital expenditure and the net revenue expenditure of the Transport Division of the Council to cycling
  • limiting the Council housing rent increase to 2% in 2016/17.
