Community Toilet scheme

Sign up to join the Community Toilet scheme

The aim of the Community Toilet scheme is to increase the number of toilet facilties available to members of the public by working in partnership with local businesses across the city. These toilets would provide additional facilities to those already available in over 60 Council and Edinburgh Leisure buildings, as well as public toilets.

We have already received some interest from businesses as a result of our recent customer survey, but continue to welcome expressions of interest for this scheme.

Benefits of joining the scheme

Businesses that choose to participate in the scheme will allow members of the public to use their toilet facilities without expecting them to make a purchase. In exchange, the Council will make an annual payment to each business of £500. Free window signage will be provided that encourages potential customers to go into member’s businesses. There will also be a dedicated area on this website that gives details of participating businesses with links to their websites. Businesses still retain the right to refuse permission in exceptional circumstances.
