EU Settlement service
We are one of 12 local authorities participating in the second pilot phase of the EU Settlement scheme for those applying for settled status.
The Home Office is testing the scheme through a series of pilots ahead of the public launch. This second phase of the pilot starts in November and runs until 21 December 2018 and covers employees in the higher education and health and social care sectors.
This pilot is testing the application process that EU citizens will use when the scheme opens fully in 2019. Feedback about your experience will be used to make improvements to the process before the scheme fully launches to the public by March 2019.

The cost of the EU Settlement service is £14 including VAT and is in addition to the application fee payable to the Home Office.
Please note that making an application in this pilot is entirely voluntary. There will be no change to current rights under EU law until the end of the planned implementation period on 31 December 2020.
Nationality Document Return Service
As of 30 November 2018 local authorities will cease to offer the Settlement Checking service and Nationality Document Return Service (NDRS), customers can now apply online via gov.uk.
From 9 November 2018, the majority of customers will complete their applications online then attend 1 of 57 new service centres in the UK named UK Visa and Citizenship Application services, managed by a commercial partner, Sopra Steria. Customers will attend an appointment at a service centre to submit their photo and fingerprints, and supporting evidence including proof of identity. The NDRS gives those that are applying online to become a British citizen the chance to retain their original supporting documents while their application is being processed.
We will photocopy and stamp your supporting documents and send them via Royal Mail Special Delivery to UKVI (UK Visas and Immigration). This is for AN and MN1 applications only.

The fee for this service is £54. You pay this when booking. This fee is not refundable or transferable. You will also be charged the appropriate postage for the weight of your application.
Joint Citizen and Passport Application service
You can apply for your first British passport at the same time as your citizenship application. This easy, efficient service has been developed in partnership with the UKVI. If your citizenship application is successful and you attend a ceremony, your new passport will be dispatched to your home.
We can only accept passport applications as part of a joint application for citizenship. To use this service complete a standard British passport application form available from the post office and bring it with you to your NDRS appointment.
The fee for this service is £24. This fee is in addition to the fee charged for NDRS.
European Passport Return Service
The European Passport Return Service (EPRS) is provided for EEA and Swiss nationals who are applying online using the EEA (QP) or EEA (PR) application forms.
We can photocopy your EEA or Swiss passport and forward the photocopied passport and original supporting documents to UKVI on your behalf. Your passport is available for you to use while your application is processed.

Nationality Checking service
As of the 31 December 2018 local authorities will cease to provide the Nationality Checking service and customers can now apply online via Gov.uk.
New UK Visa and Citizenship Application services:

Our officers are authorised to check and forward completed citizenship applications to the Home Office. We review and photocopy all the documentation to support your application.
