Trade waste at community recycling centres

No trade, commercial or business waste permitted at our sites

We stopped accepting trade, commercial or business waste at the Community Recycling Centres (CRCs) in October 2015. Trade waste is any rubbish or recycling produced by a trader or business.

Community Recycling Centres are only for residents to dispose of their own household waste and recycling.

Other ways to dispose of trade waste

You must ensure you dispose of your waste responsibly through a registered waste operator. Several companies offer a trade waste disposal and collection services in Edinburgh. You can find other waste companies

All businesses and traders have a legal duty to manage and dispose of their waste responsibly. Failure to evidence appropriate waste arrangements can result in a fine of up to £10,000.

Why we made the changes

Accepting trade waste at the CRCs did not generate enough revenue to cover its running costs and we cannot continue to provide this service.
