May Need to Notify HSE

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) are promoting the fact that you may need to notify HSE if you are having construction or refurbishment work done. You may also have other duties to consider. To find out more, visit the HSE website.

Remember Health & Safety is equally important on small projects and refurbishment/ repair projects as it is on large construction projects. Don't take a risk with safety.

Background

The construction industry has an unenviable reputation as being one that is dangerous with a higher than average incidence of accidents and fatalities. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) are working with Local Authorities to seek to raise awareness of the problem and to clearly explain the onus that is placed on both designers and contractors in complying with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007 (CDM 2007).

The scheme is entitled Local Authority Construction Engagement (LACE) and seeks to develop closer links between Local Authorities and the Health & Safety Executive to ensure the message about securing site safety reaches all levels of the industry. The overall aim is to make the industry safer both in terms of the construction phase and when it comes to undertaking future maintenance of our built environment.
