Building Warrants

New Drains installed below the ground

New drains below the ground usually require be inspected and tested by Building Standards before they are covered over. This is called the 'open drain test'.

Your drains should not be covered until they pass this first inspection and test.

After a succesful 'open drain test', the drainge track can be filled in, after which a further inspection and test is usually carried out. This is called the 'final drain test'.

Please let us know by phoning the Building Standards Surveyor allocated to your Building Warrant, when your drains are ready for each inspection and they will arrange a suitable date for the inspection.

You can also inform us by completing and posting in the 'Notice of work stage completed - Model Form K' that was sent to you with the Building Warrant or download the form from here.

You can find the name of the Building Standards Surveyor on our PublicAccess system, either carry out a search using the building warrant reference number or search using your address.
