Community Engagement on Planning Proposals

Pre-application consultation

People participating at a Planning workshop

Proposals for national and major applications require pre-application consultation with local communities.  Community Councils and developers have entered into a 5 point concordat, which sets out a consistent approach to community engagement at Edinburgh.

Developers/Applicants

Developers must complete a Proposal of Application Notice at least 12 weeks before the planning application is submitted.

Community

Communities will have the opportunity to express their views and have an input to the application at an early stage.  Community Councils have a statutory role in the process.

Does community engagement make a difference?

Once an application has been decided all those who were involved in the pre-application consultation will have an opportunity to complete a survey on the process and how well the engagement achieved its purpose.
