Traffic Orders

Types of Order

Have you ever noticed part of a road change to a foot path? We use this kind of order to legally change who can use an area. This can include extending a footway or making a cycle lane. If you object and it cannot be addressed, a public hearing will be held. This will consider the objections and decide on the proposals.

Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs)

A TRO allows us to change traffic management or parking controls. They manage who can use a road or even just a part of it. We use them to place restrictions like yellow lines, parking places or bus lanes. They also give Parking Attendants the power to issue parking tickets.

Redetermination Orders

How does a road become a foot path? By using a Redetermination Order we can change who is entitled to use an area. This can also include creating more cycle lanes around the city.

Speed Limit Orders

Simply put, we use these types of Order to change the speed limit on a road. Such as introducing new 20mph zones around schools.

Stopping-up Orders

This order removes the right of passage when a road is no longer required. This can be a basic change to the road layout. Or in new developments if a house is being built on an old road.
