Edinburgh is easily reached by train with East Coast rail operating a regular service between London King's Cross and Edinburgh Waverley. The journey normally takes between four and a quarter to four and three quarter hours.
First Scotrail operate the Caledonian Express sleeper service between Edinburgh Waverley and London Euston.
Virgin Trains also offer a cross-border service which follows a west coast route before arriving in Edinburgh .
Arriva Cross Country provide a service via the east coast main line between Edinburgh and many towns and cities in England .
