Bus passes for older people

If you are 60 or over, you can apply for a National Entitlement Card, which will give you free travel on buses throughout Scotland.

In Edinburgh, we call our card the One Edinburgh Card and you can apply for this at any of our libraries.

How to apply

You will have to fill in a form which you can get in any of our libraries and you will have to provide us with a passport-style photograph and proof of your age and address.

You can use the following documents as proof of age:

  • birth certificate
  • passport
  • photo driving licence
  • attendance allowance award letter
  • The following can be used for proof of address:
  • current Council Tax bill
  • gas, electricity or landlline phone bill dated within the past three months
  • bank statement dated within the past three months
  • current television licence
  • letter from residential home or from the Council confirming that you are resident
  • If your card is about to run out

If you have your card because you are over 60 (and not because of any disability) it will automatically renew approximately 14 days before it is due to expire.  If you have moved address, please go in to your local library with proof of your new address as your card and we will update our records so that your card will go out to the correct address.
