Children's Practice Teams

Children's Practice Teams in Edinburgh

There are seven social work practice teams across the city that provide social work and social care services to children and their families. The Children's Practice Teams work with children at risk and children in need. Primarily this means children who have been referred as in need of care and protection or in need of compulsory measures of supervision through the Children's Hearing system.

There are six neighbourhood based Practice Teams covering the City of Edinburgh and a seventh city-wide team working with children affected by disability. The neighbourhood based teams also include Early Intervention Teams which work primarily with children who are at risk of exclusion from school or at risk of needing to be accommodated away from home. All teams work first and foremost to support children to remain in their own families and schools.

There are three teams of staff who work within Children's Practice Teams and each have different areas of priority. The teams are:
