Edinburgh and Lothian inter-agency child protection procedures

For professionals, the procedure document provides the procedures and processes to follow when dealing with child protection concerns. Responsibilities and roles in a shared multi-agency, approach are clear. Likewise, where to seek advice and assistance is clearly sign-posted 

For children, young people and their families, they set out what can be expected from the professionals who have a responsibility for their protection. They indicate how children and their parents/carers will be consulted, treated and kept informed of decisions concerning them

The Procedures are clearly and directly linked to the standards set out by the Scottish Executive in Protecting Children and Young People 2004: Framework for Standards.

Children living in families with problem substance misuse

For professionals these guidelines provides guidance on the processes to follow when dealing with concerns about children living in families with problem alcohol or drug abuse.

For children, young people and their families the guidance demonstrates the joint approach which will be taken by the professionals involved with their family.
