You are a carer if you look after your family, partner or friends who need help because they are ill, frail or have a disability. The care you provide is unpaid. You can find local and city wide carers organisations by searching the carer support directory.
These organisations can provide

- Group support
- Counselling
- Advocates to speak up for you
- Carer forums
Carers can also get an assessment of their own needs and ask Social Care for information and advice.
You can get information and support to help you in your caring role from the NHS.
- Speak to your GP or health worker and they can refer you to a relevant service
- Call NHS Inform on 0800 22 44 88 between 8am - 10pm
