There are fascinating stories behind many of the buildings and public spaces in the Old and New Towns and you can discover these by downloading the Edinburgh's House Histories podcast and the Heritage Trail and listening to some captivating accounts. You can also download the new, free Edinburgh World Heritage iPhone app to help you explore some of the less well visited parts of the city centre; Thistle Street, Broughton Street and the West End and West End Village.
The iPhone app features City maps, photos, stories of past residents and events to help bring the buildings to life. You can also add your own photos and comment on things they you've found, leaving digital breadcrumbs for others to follow and discover these unique places themselves. It also allows you to compete against each other, scoring points for finding places and winning bonuses for answering questions about the location.
