The Royal Mile Project

Latest News

Residents, businesses and the Council "went the Extra Mile"!

Volunteers from the Royal Mile community and a range of Council services supported the City Centre Neighbourhood Team as they undertook a comprehensive Royal Mile Spring Clean on the 7th, 8th and 9th March.  A huge thanks to everyone who got involved - the enthusiasm and commitment of the volunteers was extremely encouraging, and their contribution over the course of the three days has resulted in noticeable improvements on the Royal Mile and its closes.

The effect of the wide range of actions that took place has made a real positive difference, with benefits for people who live, work and visit the street.  You can see photos of some of the results of the street cleaning, litter picking, graffiti removal and street furniture painting in the Royal Mile photo gallery

At the recent Royal Mile Charrette, attendees agreed that to be successful in making the most of the street, the whole Royal Mile community, including residents, businesses, the Council and others, has a responsibility to get involved and "go the extra mile"! We think the Spring Clean has been an excellent start to this process.
