Supply

The Council has a list of supply teachers, nursery nurses/officers, and learning assistants to provide short term, temporary cover in schools.  Anyone wishing to be placed on the supply list must go through a safe recruitment process.  The Council is responsible for recruiting supply staff and for ensuring they are paid for any work carried out.  Day to day supply staff bookings are carried out by Blue Arrow Ltd. on behalf of the Council.

To apply for the supply list, you should e mail supply@edinburgh.gov.uk to request an application form.  Return the completed application form by e mail to the supply team in the HR and Payroll Service Centre.  You will be invited to attend an interview by a Head Teacher.  Current Council employees do not have to attend an interview, e.g. temporary staff, retiring teachers and probationers.  Head Teachers can recommend unsuccessful shortlisted candidates they have interviewed for permanent posts. 

Before any individual is added to the supply list, the following pre-employment checks will be carried out: online medical questionnaire, two written references, and P.V.G (Protection of Vulnerable Groups) Scheme. Please note that there is a fee of £59 to join the PVG Scheme which must be paid by the individual before the application is processed to Disclosure Scotland.  For anyone who is already a PVG Scheme Member, a Scheme Record Update will be required which is paid for by the Council. 

If all checks are satisfactory, you will be sent a letter with the supply terms of engagement.  Your details will then be passed to Blue Arrow for inclusion on the supply database.
