All low density households should now have received a kerbside food waste recycling service. You can check your food waste recycling collection day and if your street is listed and you don't have a starter pack, please contact us. If your street isn't listed, it means that the service is not yet available in your street and it will be included in the on-street food waste recycling service rollout which is due to be completed by 2013. Check out our food waste recycling video.
The starter pack contains a small indoor kitchen caddy, a larger outdoor kerbside food bin, a roll of compostable sacks and an information leaflet.
It's easy to take part; place the compostable liner into the indoor kitchen caddy, fill it with left over food and scraps, tie the liner, place the compostable liner into the outdoor kerbside food bin (all food must be in a compostable liner or wrapped in newspaper), pull the handle to the front of the bin to lock (locking mechanisms may vary) and place it on your kerbside by 7am on your collection day.

When you run out of compostable liners for your kitchen caddy they are widely available to buy in local shops, large supermarkets and through online retailers. Look out for the compostable logo. The indoor food waste kitchen caddy is 5 litres but we would recommend a 7 litre bag to ensure that you are able to tie the bag closed.
