Recycling Incentive Scheme

It is an exciting time for recycling and recyclers in Edinburgh.

In September 2011, the Council launched a series of recycling incentive schemes to thank recyclers across the city and encourage residents to recycle more.

There are 4 schemes.

What - paper and packaging bank incentive scheme.

When - 5 - 16 September 2011

Streets were selected at random. 2 Council Waste Officers were out across various areas of the city ready to thank and reward a lucky recycler with a £10 bonusbond voucher which can be spent in many high street shops. 

What - red and blue box recycling service incentive scheme.

When - 3 - 14 October 2011

Display your box for collection and receive a postcard. For your chance to win, simply write your name and address and return the postcard to us. Postcards will be collected and at the end of each week 3 cards will be selected, the first will be rewarded with a voucher of £50 and 2 "runner ups" will be given £25.

Postcards will be drawn at random on Friday 21 October and Tuesday 1 November and entries must be received by these closing dates to be included in the corresponding prize draw. Winners will be notified by telephone on 2 November. Find out about the winners

What - Community Recycling Centres incentive scheme

When - 5 - 16 December 2011

Recycle to help a local charity. The more users at the Community Recycling Centres (CRC), the better chance the CRC will reach their target recycling rate and a chosen charity will be given a donation. Come along and you will also be issued with a car or bike sticker. Find out about the winning charity.

What - Garden waste collection incentive scheme

When - 19 - 30 March 2012

Take part in the competition to win gardening tools. All residential properties participating in the garden waste collection system will be in with a chance. Tags will be provided between 19 - 30 March and to enter the competition you need to tie the tag to your brown bin handle when you put your garden waste out on your next collection date.
